We Ride. Do You?

I am picking up a Giant road bike today. I know they are kind of ghey but with my robot legs running is out of the question. Going to use it to get back into shape and burn off some steam when I can't ride.

I will post up some pics once I get it home.

Anyone else into road bikes? If so post up what you have and if you have any useful info it would be appreciated.

My friend has a giant road bike. Its real nice.
Road biking pwns running any day. I want to get one real bad now, since I live in a place with enough streets to ride it.

Yea, I'm diggin riding it now. I used to talk all kinds of shit on road bikes but they are way less abusive than running. Totally different feel than any other bike too which makes it fun.

I've got to put a little speedo / odometer on my bike, but that will be after my clipless (dumb name seeing as you clip in) pedals. I used to race BMX with clips, they will definitely pwn the road bike game.

Damn Eleotte, nice bike!

I went entry level to make sure I like it and I'm enjoying it. 100 miles a week is impressive, I have been logging about 40-50 miles a week. With my schedule I think its pretty good.

I'm down to cruise up and get some riding in the cooler weather, this heat wave has made me not so enthusiastic about getting out and riding. I've been riding before work in the mornings for about an hour to beat the heat. I tried to ride at night last night and it was still way too hot.

I may be interested in that Specialized, depending on the price when you are ready to buy something new. What size is the frame?

frame is a 61 probly a little big for you but you need to get some real road bike handlebars on your bike asap!!

Are road bike handlebars really that great? I figured they would be good if I were riding a lot of flat land high speed stuff with other riders. My bike shop guy said you can reduce wind resistance by 30% with them but for what I'm doing it probably wouldn't really be that beneficial.

I need a road bike - running sucks. I can run around my block and then I'm over it.

What kind of stuff are you doing not to have a real set of bars?
I've never road without a good set of bars, but they make a huge difference. You will feel more comfortable on the bike.
You've probably already seen this site, but check it out. They throw out siQQ deals on stuff.

I'm doing mainly around neighborhood riding. Quite a bit of stuff is terrain so I'm thinking the road style bars wouldn't be that beneficial, hence why I was cool with the flat bars.

The Giant Rapid is considered a "fitness" bike opposed to a "road race" bike, however the other Giant "road race" bike he had in the shop had nearly the same components less the bars so I figured I could always change them out if I didn't like them.

Sweet deal on the link, I haven't done much research on them, bought it spur of the moment wanting to get back into shape.

Well, been riding quite a bit lately so I picked up a new bike. Still keeping it relatively cheap but got a Giant Defy 3. Threw some clips on it and its good to go.

Still riding a lot Eleotte? I've been riding between 10-15 miles a day, 5 days a week.
